Booking Holdings Financial Services (hereinafter “BHFS”) is based in Dublin, Ireland and provides financial services in the form of payment services and e-money products across all the brands. The Head of Internal Audit will have overall responsibility for managing the operation of Booking Holdings Financial Services International Limited internal audit function and has direct responsibility to the BHFS Board on internal audit matters. They will also have responsibility for managing Internal Audit matter for Booking Holdings Financial Services UK Limited and Booking Holdings Financial Services US.  The Head of Internal Audit will be part of the larger Booking Holdings Inc Internal audit team and report directly to the BHI Audit Director and an indirect reporting line to the BHFSI Board. You will be responsible for managing and updating the BHFS internal audit charter and developing a risk-based audit plan with appropriate and timely actions and reporting taken with audit findings.

The role of Head of Internal Audit is a pre-approved controlled function (PCF-13), and so the successful candidate will need to undergo fitness and probity checks and be approved by the Central Bank of Ireland before commencing the role. Next to the audit procedures for BHFS, this role will also participate in other activities of Global Internal Audit at the company’s Brands, including operational audits. 

In this role you will get to:

  • Deliver comprehensive, independent risk assessments across the business;

  • Contribute to the creation, planning, and supervision of the delivery of an annual risk-based internal audit plan;

  • Conduct audits within the BHFS group.

  • Contribute and participate in audit procedures at other business units with the BHI Group

  • Drive the delivery of the audit work on time, within the agreed budget, in accordance with agreed standards and regulations, including but not limited to the internal audit charter of the firm;

  • Form an independent opinion on the governance, risk, and control environment and of management’s awareness in each area of responsibility;

  • Undertake risk-based audit work that effectively challenges management. Deliver and communicate audit results to the Executive Management Team;

  • Promptly deliver reports that clearly highlight where action is required. Use influencing and communication skills to confirm that issues raised in audits are promptly resolved;

  • Maintain highly effective and influential relationships at the Board, Executive Management Team level, and below;

  • Oversee and ensure all audit issues are identified and track and report on audit issues until resolution. 

  • Present formal updates at the relevant Board, Committees, and Executive Management Team meetings;

  • Monitor continuous improvement of audit methodology and practices through the adherence to documented procedures and standards ensuring consistency of working practice and quality of audit team;

  • Proactively manage relationships with the Board, regulator, and internal stakeholders; and 

  • Comply with existing Fitness & Probity Standards, the new Common Conduct Standards, and the Additional Conduct Standards issued by the Central Bank of Ireland.

What you have:

  • Extensive experience in external audit or internal audit or experience in auditing control functions within the financial services/fintech sector.

  • Professional membership of a relevant auditing body.

  • Strong knowledge of the existing Fitness & Probity Standards, the new Common Conduct

  • Standards and the Additional Conduct Standards issued by the Central Bank of Ireland;

  • Strong communication skills enabling you to effectively report to the Board and Senior Management Team and clearly articulate business risks and controls;

  • Honest, proactive, and responsible, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail;

  • Proactive approach in managing audit and special projects and seeking ways to add value;

  • Team player with excellent leadership and project management skills and the ability to successfully oversee multiple projects at one time; and

  • Willingness to challenge.

  • Previously Held a PCF-13 position.
