This role reports to our Chief Security Officer Devon Bryan at Booking Holdings and collaborates with the Brands CISOs. The role is located in Norwalk, CT, USA and is eligible for our hybrid work model: two days in office.
The Global Sr Enterprise Security Architect (Director level) is a high-impact, strategic leadership role responsible for the long-term security enterprise architecture vision across all Booking Holdings brands. This Senior role is an individual contributor role operates with extreme ownership, driving the end-to-end strategy from initial conceptualization to global adoption.
You will act as a primary security consultant to brand CISOs and the global Chief Security Officer, bridging the gap between complex technical safeguards and business-critical revenue protection. You are not just a designer; you are a change agent who balances high-level strategy with the pragmatic agility required in a world-class travel technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate must be current with leading industry developments and practices and bring thought leadership to the security team and BKNG overall.
In this role you will get to:
Strategic Blueprinting & Ownership: Lead the evolution of the Booking Holdings Security Architecture blueprint. You are responsible for its long-term viability, ensuring it anticipates emerging threats and supports the 3-5 year business roadmap.
Autonomous Governance: Own the governance lifecycle. Independently identify gaps in current brand implementations and drive remediation without the need for day-to-day oversight.
Executive Influence: Act as a key advisor to Brand CISOs and the Global Chief Security Officer. Persuade and align senior leadership on security investments that balance risk with commercial velocity.
Architectural Guidance & Mentorship: Provide "North Star" guidance to security engineers across brands. Act as the final escalation point for complex architectural disputes or trade-offs.
Vendor Strategy & Ecosystem Leadership: Lead high-stakes vendor assessments. Ensure that chosen solutions don't just "fit" but provide a competitive advantage through superior ROI and integration.
Cross-Brand Synergy: Proactively identify opportunities for brands to share security services or tools, driving efficiency and a unified defense posture across the enterprise.
What you have:
Advanced Security Expertise: Mastery of Cloud/Hybrid Security, Identity (IAM), Zero Trust architectures, and Secure SDLC. Experience with AI-driven security operations is highly preferred. Key domains:
Cloud-native security architecture (multi-cloud)
Identity & access (human + machine identity)
API and application security
Zero trust architectures
Strong understanding of modern attack surface (SaaST, AI, third-party)
Experience in building up a new security enterprise architecture function from scratch – strategy & influencing as key skills.
Strategic Vision: Proven ability to translate the mission ("Making it easier for everyone to experience the world") into a resilient technical reality.
Stakeholder Mastery: Superb ability to communicate to technical and non-technical executives and driving consensus. Proven track record of operating in a matrix environment
Extreme Ownership: A track record of taking complex, ambiguous problems and driving them to a successful conclusion with minimal guidance.
M&A, integration deployment experience is a plus
5+ years of security enterprise architecture experience

Enterprise visibility achieved (“Know Thy Network”): established a unified understanding of critical assets, identities, data flows, APIs, cloud environments, AI systems, and third-party dependencies across all brands.
Federated security architecture operating model established: created common guardrails, reusable patterns, and architecture standards while enabling brand autonomy and innovation.
Security embedded into strategic technology decisions: became a trusted partner for major initiatives including AI adoption, cloud strategy, M&A, customer identity, and platform modernization.
AI-era architecture foundation delivered: implemented secure-by-design patterns for agentic AI, data protection, machine identity, model governance, and emerging technology risks.
Complexity and enterprise risk reduced: rationalized duplicate capabilities, improved control consistency, reduced technical debt, and strengthened resilience across the BKNG ecosystem.

There are a variety of job related factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.
The base salary range for Connecticut and the NYC-metro area is $218,700-$267,300.
