Reports to and Location:

The VP, Risk & Controls will report to the Chief Accounting Officer in our Norwalk, CT office.

Job Overview:

The company is looking for someone with experience working in a fast growth, innovative environment. He/she will be required to work cross functionally with brand leaders (CEOs, CFOs, Controllers) to help support the strategic growth of the business by strengthening the company’s internal control foundation. The VP, Finance Risk & Controls will support Booking Holdings as well as the Brands by implementing and managing leading practice internal controls and financial accountability. As such, he/she will be capable of developing strong partnerships with senior business leaders and working in a highly collaborative way across a broad range of enterprise initiatives. 

This oversight consists of providing independent trusted advice that will assist the first line of defense in making informed risk-based decisions, while supporting the delivery of business goals and objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as liaison between Finance management / business teams and Internal Audit to drive Finance internal controls (ICFR) which are designed to manage risk and align to the business
  • Drive consistency of Finance controls within and among Brands, including facilitating knowledge-sharing and implementation of best practices
  • Own Finance SOX approach for the enterprise (including planning, scoping, control standardization, etc.)
  • Oversee the quality of SOX testing performed at the Brands
  • Enhance and reinforce end-to-end Finance policies, including related control framework updates
  • Partner with Internal Audit and Brands to ensure controls are appropriately aligned to changing business environment, including enterprise strategy and objectives
  • Harmonize and own SOX Tooling across Brands
  • Monitor and work with Brands to close open issues (IA, SOX)
  • Identify, implement, and monitor Finance control KPIs, and lead reporting for Brand compliance activities to the Risk Committee
  • Anticipate analyze and prioritize new Finance risks, trends, etc. which may result from internal or external factors, and develop plan(s) to address risks
  • Identify and manage controls related to financial systems, including new risks resulting from ERP rollouts and upgrades 
  • Manage and develop solution-oriented finance risk & control team to drive audits and advisory projects
  • Serve as a lead Finance representative within the Risk Committee
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external regulators and auditors
  • Collaborate and align with Brand Internal Control (SOX) Leads and corresponding teams
  • Responsible for independent oversight of operational risks within the company, including any related initiatives, programs, and / or end to end processes that may impact Booking Holdings, its Customers/Clients, financially or reputationally.
  • Assist Booking Holdings to embed effective tools, systems and controls for analyzing and monitoring risks consistent with risk based identified strategic initiatives; advise on appropriate controls and documentation of operational risk management system requirements.
  • Identify areas to optimize oversight activities using analytics and continuous monitoring of the first line program execution.
  • Consult with internal groups such as Global Internal Audit, Compliance, Legal, and other Brand and Corporate Finance teams on matters related to risk controls, self-assessments, incidents and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of experience in an accounting and/or finance leader role.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Controls function, Enterprise Risk Management, or Internal Audit.
  • Internal audit experience ideally with tech companies ranging from $5B to $10B+ revenue.
  • Established expertise in the application of both US GAAP and IFRS and ability to establish and maintain a strong internal control environment
  • Deep understanding of COSO framework (US Sox)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to established timeframes.
  • Possess agility to manage ambiguity and high volumes of information
  • Demonstrated leadership by influencing and decision through a complex organizational structure
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication, presentation and strong interpersonal skills.
