The Global Strategy team is responsible for the overall strategy of both Booking Holdings and its largest brand Booking.com. The team has members in Amsterdam, London and the New York area, and we work collaboratively on initiatives across the senior leadership of Booking Holdings, Booking.com, Agoda, Kayak, and OpenTable.
As Senior Strategy Manager for the US, you will lead the US members of the Global Strategy team and own the development of our North American strategy. This will require working collaboratively with stakeholders across all levels of the business to develop a multi-year strategic plan.
You will drive strategic and operational decisions through process and content leadership, help develop a unified perspective of our current capabilities and opportunities as well as evaluate build vs. partner vs. buy options. You will be the key point person between Strategy and cross-functional business teams in developing these assessments.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a key leader on the team responsible for the overall strategic direction of Booking Holdings, you will be solving unique and complex problems that have major impacts on a multi-billion dollar global business. You will need to think creatively, identify actionable insights from complicated data and navigate a highly-matrixed global environment.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Being a thought leader in the US travel market through a deep understanding historical and future industry, competitor, and consumer trends; having a clear perspective on the likely future shape of the market
Developing and maintaining a multi-year strategic plan together with our brands and finance teams, including evaluating new business models, initiatives, investments or deals
Leading critical projects to solve complex strategic and operational challenges, including defining success, scoping analyses and driving to outcomes
Building alignment with senior stakeholders (inc. SVPs and VPs) on key recommendations, ensuring significant transformation of the company over a multi-year period
Supporting the regular Booking Holdings business review processes, by providing visibility and guidance for the Board of Directors on critical programs and strategic decisions
Coaching and leading the US based members of the global strategy team on key functional and personal skills such as communications and influencing, business analysis, and stakeholder management
5+ years in consulting, corporate strategy, business development or corporate strategic planning
2+ years in operational role, ideally in a technology business
Skilled in strategy development, including project scoping, hypotheses development, financial and business modeling, strategic option identification, consensus building, and implementation
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a talented and driven team in the development and execution of strategic initiatives
Strong executive presence and ability to communicate strategy clearly and simply
Ability to distill complex business issues and strategies to highlight insights and actionable recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner
Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration in a highly matrixed and complex environment
Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and deal with ambiguity, willingness to actively drive resolution of issues in a timely manner
Expertise in technology, ideally in e-commerce is highly desirable
Some travel to Europe possible, but infrequent
