The Booking Holdings Legal team is spearheading several initiatives to further enhance legal support at both the parent holding company level and within our many brands. These initiatives include developing standards and controls for our brands in various legal areas (IP, consumer law, litigation, employment law etc.), developing contract templates and playbooks, exploring new tools for legal department use (contract management, billing, knowledge management, records retention etc.), presenting Legal updates and relevant legal issues to business partners and internal steering committees, and planning education, training and programming for our legal staff. We are developing our control environment and related legal frameworks. To do all of this, we need a skilled project manager to keep us on track and organized!
The Project Manager, Legal will be responsible for leading complex projects, developing processes, managing and communicating project definitions, achievements, milestones, schedules and project status for new and ongoing projects. The Project Manager will plan requirements and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. These projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres and it’s the Project Manager’s job to keep all the players coordinated on the projects progress and deadlines. The Project Manager will be responsible to ensure that projects are clearly defined (scope, timing, cost and resources) and the benefits are described in a business case and will be tracked through the lifecycle of the project. This role will lead the execution of strategic legal initiatives and the enablement of project management standards consistent with best practices and ensuring successful project delivery.
As the Project Manager you will have the opportunity to influence and build relationships with team members in all functional areas and levels of the organization – privacy, compliance, security and tech, commercial, procurement, finance and of course legal, across Booking Holdings and its Brands by ensuring the Legal team’s work is tracked, accounted for, and delivered on time.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop the strategy and implementation plan for complex legal projects and initiatives; define plans, milestones and success criteria
Develop processes, documentation and communications for project rollouts and for executive meetings
Act as a subject matter expert on project management and implementation planning and coordinate cross-brand project and implementation planning
Work with the SVP Legal, the EVP and General Counsel, the Booking Holdings Legal Team and other within the organization (including other project managers on other teams) as liaison to provide effective coordination of initiatives under analysis and execution
Lead legal projects from requirements through launch, including managing complex project schedules
Provide senior leadership and functional leaders with updates on progress against plans, performance indicators and success metrics
Define key metrics such as risk indicators, performance metrics and operational metrics.
Project manage and execute on the implementation of key controls and business processes that are foundational to Booking Holdings’ legal strategy
Develop requirements, scope projects and estimate resource requirements and assist with budget planning
Prioritize and solve problems that impede project outcomes
Build relationships with Brand partners
Develop project schedules and workflows; manage project timelines and key milestones to consistently meet or exceed goals
Create success metrics and criteria, manage communication of progress/status
Host project and working group meetings representing BH Legal with Brand Legal and Project leaders
Develop a reporting dashboard and ensure all reports, milestones and tasks are kept up to date in the reporting framework
Coordinate cross-brand reporting strategy and input from the Brands
Track key success and performance indicators and delivery against objectives
Project Management accreditation similar to PMP certification is preferred
5-8 years of experience in program or project management
Experience working with global, cross-functional teams
Experience with legal and/or compliance frameworks and requirements
Experience working as a program or project manager on significant projects with global reach and executive exposure, ideally in the legal or compliance area
Experience working with global teams, capable of bringing together stakeholders in Legal and various business departments, to align requirements and drive improvements
Hands-on experience building project management frameworks and dashboards in the absence of software and any prior plans (starting from scratch)
Experience with first, second and third line of defense methodology.
Hands-on experience working with risk and controls frameworks
Proven ability to develop, manage and execute on legal initiatives
Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with the ability to quickly build credibility and influence
Ability to establish and maintain a culture of risk management and compliance while delivering on our commitments to customers
Ability to be flexible and agile.
Proven ability to manage multiple and competing priorities simultaneously while remaining a collaborative team player
Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing leaders, across functions including an ability to effectively communicate with business teams
