Job Overview

Booking Holdings is currently undergoing a Finance Transformation initiative that will drive effective finance support for business management; promote strong governance and control in the organization; and have a world-class finance organization in terms of execution and efficiency.

As part of this newly formed organization (Global Business Services) we are building a leadership team that will focus largely on establishing Global Process Ownership (R2R, P2P, C2C) and transformation roles (Operations Management, Process Improvement, Program Management, and Organizational Change Management).

The project manager will be responsible for enterprise program management supporting global finance initiatives across the organization. This role will report to the Global Business Services Organization and will lead both the execution of strategic finance initiatives (Such as the implementation of SAP, Vertex, and Contract management to name a few) and the enablement of project management standards consistent with best practices and ensuring successful project delivery.

The project manager will be responsible for working closely with Finance leadership, FP&A, IT, and Business Teams to ensure projects are clearly defined (Scope, time, cost, and resources); and benefits are described in a business case and will be tracked through the lifecycle of the project. The responsibilities and duties of the role are described below in the context of enablement, execution, and business value management.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • This role will work to develop set of tools, templates, and standards for the organization to drive consistency and best practices in our ways of working. This would include, but not limited to:

    • Establishing guiding principles for the enterprise program management office- including EPMO charter, mandates, and ways of working

    • Developing library of technical requirement gathering, and advising on best practices

    • Building out standards across brand Program and project management offices

    • Bringing together PMs under a central way of working and creating a framework for executing projects with scale (initiate, plan, execute, monitor/control, close)

    • Assisting in leading governance processes to oversee project performance (Status reporting and project reviews)

    • Working with procurement teams to ensure procurement activities are considered from a central point of view and taking advantage of existing systems in place, and the overall direction of the broader organization

    • Working with OCM support and HR to develop standard around communication planning, stakeholder analysis, and change management

  • Role will work with FP&A and Strategy Teams in order to ensure projects are tied to business value:

    • Working with FP&A to build standards around project initiation specific to business case development and investment decisions  

    • Implement approach leveraging OKR (Objectives and Key Results) model to ensure projects in the organization are linked to overall organization strategic objectives, and the work can be measured and tracked

    • Ensure objectives and cross functional projects are working in sync with broader organizational objectives

    • Logging lessons learned and building database for learnings and project assets for future initiatives

  • Beyond the 2 categories above (Enablement and Business Value), these roles will also be required as appropriate to run given workstreams at times – meaning the role can be either focused on enterprise PMO functions or direct leadership of strategic workstreams which includes both longer term global initiatives and shorter-term process improvements

  • Role will be responsible for leading select workstreams such as Global ERP Implementation, Consolidation Tool Implementation, Operating Model Design, Reporting Standardization, Contract Management Software, Vendor Management System, Tax Deployment with Vertex, Closing Tool such as Blackline and One Stream

  • In addition, this role will support the deployment of a new operating model which includes regulated financial products under our connected trip strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree or CPA a plus

  • PMP a plus

  • 5 years of experience leading global strategic initiatives, within a shared services environment undergoing financial transformation

  • Experience working as program or project manager on significant project with global reach and executive exposure

  • Experience working with global teams, capable of bringing together stakeholders, to align requirements and drive improvements

  • Experience leading projects in a shared services environment

  • Ability to work successfully with consulting teams and strategic partners to maximize value and accelerate change

  • Experience working across global distributed workforce; with proven ability to influence and drive change

  • Understanding of Accounting Practices and Standards such as Gaap and IFRS

  • Understands and can execute on lean principles or six sigma, DMAIC to define opportunities, execute change, and solve problems

  • Understand and can execute initiatives using PMBOK framework to move an initiative efficiently through a project lifecycle

  • Has led technical requirements gathering using SDLC, etc

  • Experience operating in, and driving alignment and consensus in a complex and matrix environment

  • Effective communication style

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to apply structured problem solving methods to address issues and drive root cause

  • Experience with largescale ERP implementations a plus

  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, or Netsuite

  • Experience with SaaS solutions Financial Systems

  • Knowledge of P2P, R2R, and C2C business processes

  • 25% travel is the average during normal circumstances
