Job Title: Manager of Risk and Controls

Reports to and Location:

The Manager, Risk and Controls will report to the VP, Risk and Controls in our Norwalk office. 

Job Overview:

This Manager, Risk and Controls will support the Vice-President, Risk & Controls in performing a broad range of operational and financial risk management responsibilities including providing independent trusted advice to the first line of defense in making informed risk-based decisions, while supporting the delivery of business goals and objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Independently review, challenge, and support risk management activities.
  • Facilitate independent oversight of operational and financial risks within the company, including any related initiatives, programs, and / or end to end processes that may impact Booking Holdings, its Customers/Clients, financially or reputationally.
  • Assist in the evaluation of people, process and execution risks related to Booking Holdings’ business processes and initiatives by clearly understanding the key processes, dependencies and emerging risks including any mitigating controls.
  • Assist in the identification and management of key operational and financial risks, while providing solutions and assisting in resolution for Booking Holdings and Brand processes.
  • Assist Booking Holdings to embed effective tools, systems and controls for analyzing and monitoring risks related to strategic initiatives; advise on appropriate controls and documentation of operational risk management system requirements.
  • Partner with other Brand Finance and Risk & Controls teams and Internal Audit to coordinate plans and ensure appropriate coverage of risks.
  • Stay abreast with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to establish clear and measurable expectations for the Booking Holdings programs and capabilities.
  • Identify areas to optimize oversight activities using analytics and continuous monitoring of the first line program execution.
  • Assist the Vice-President, Risk & Controls in strengthening the second line of defense at Booking Holdings’ and its brands.
  • Participate in consultations with internal groups such as Global Internal Audit, Compliance, Legal, and other Brand and Corporate Finance teams on matters related to risk controls, self-assessments, incidents and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist the Vice-President, Risk & Control in developing and executing strategy to mature the internal controls program at Booking Holding and its Brands. 


  • Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of implementing and managing Sarbanes Oxley programs, process management and/or risk management involvement within a highly matrixed, complex industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Controls function, Enterprise Risk Management, or Internal Audit.
  • CPA or CIA certification.
  • Experience in a Public Accounting firm preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and G Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to established timeframes.
  • Ability to assert and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication, presentation and strong interpersonal skills.
