Booking Holdings is currently undergoing a Finance Transformation initiative that will drive effective finance/accounting support for business management; promote strong governance and control in the organization; and have a world-class finance organization in terms of execution and efficiency.
To support this transformation, we are hiring a GBS RTR Operations Director within the Global Business Services organization. This role, reporting to the VP, Assistant Controller & Global Process Owner, will be responsible for establishing functional objectives in line with the organization’s objectives, and overseeing solution delivery for global RTR function and accounting operations. The role manages a global team of people leaders and drives operations, engagement and development within a large diverse global stakeholder base.
The Global Business Services RTR Operations Director will be responsible for:
Overseeing the global accounting operations team (over 25 individuals), which is charged with ensuring the integrity of consolidated financial statements (management and statutory) and supervising compliance with financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient execution of global financial processes.
Building, establishing, leading and scaling all aspects of operational accounting processes for BHIs brands globally, and associated with corporate accounting, revenue accounting, intercompany, leases, fixed assets, stock-based compensation, and COE finance.
Managing resources located in different time zones and cultures
Serving as a corporate liaison and business advisor on accounting and reporting process matters to the brand controllership teams, brand CFO’s and financial planning and analysis teams.
Providing leadership to drive alignment and process standardization across the Booking Holdings brands globally.
Leading process transformations and delivery of key record-to-report programs (on-going and future projects) across multiple global entities.
Partnering with global stakeholders to define clear roles and responsibilities and develop actionable plans for people, process and system integration.
Identifying and helping drive resolution of accounting issues that have an impact on the business and alerting the technical accounting team.
Overseeing operational implementation of new accounting standards, policies & procedures to ensure consistency and compliance in partnership with the technical accounting team.
Liaising with risk and control and functional leads to ensure proper internal controls are in place.
Helping to define a strategic end-state that not only significantly improves the speed of the current close process, but also enhances control and governance mechanisms, increases transparency and reliability of data, is nimble enough to timely react to changes in the regulatory standards, is efficient and effective in its use of resources across locations and is well supported by a technology platform (“best in class”).
Identification and development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to objectively and continually assess process performance and determine process health.
Lead benchmarking activities and continuous assessment of global process performance measures, driving measurable improvements in the process over time in partnership with GPOs.
Establishing strong relationships with all levels of business cross-functional stakeholders, manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions to ensure information flow, transparency, collaboration and effective execution of solutions aligned to business needs.
Model and cultivate a continuous- improvement mindset; Identifying and driving opportunities to centralize, automate or outsource activities in a scalable, sustainable and standardized manner.
Managing complexity and drive for standardization: Able to synthesize customer needs and challenges presented by multiple competing – internal and external – priorities with RTR functions. Make sound and timely decisions based on corporate needs while enforcing technology standards.
Collaborating with the business to ensure resources are properly trained on processes, policies, and systems.
Encourage collaboration and communication within and beyond the department; work effectively with leadership of other functional areas and with other divisional accounting leaders.
Work with direct reports to set performance-related goals and identify development opportunities. Provide ongoing informal and formal feedback.
Set and effectively communicate department strategy and priorities, in alignment with the broader division and company financial strategy
Big 4 public accounting experience preferred and/or multinational corporate environment
8-12 years experience in running Global Accounting Operations/GBS
Experience running accounting/finance operations in a shared-service model.
Technical Accounting experience
Project management and/or transformation experience, a plus.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fluid organization.
Ability to effectively communicate at various levels of the organization tailored appropriately to the audience.
Candidates should demonstrate effective collaboration skills up, down and across the organization.
Maintain effectiveness in a continually evolving environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others
Sound knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS and SOx
Experience with SAP and Blackline is preferred.
Experience with OneStream or Hyperion Financial Management is a plus.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.
The base salary range for Connecticut and the NYC-metro area is $183,600-$224,400.
