The Finance Manager is responsible for leading a defined area of the organization's accounting & control function for BHFS UK. Responsible for the timely and accurate production and submission of all statutory returns to regulatory authorities, overall entity planning activities and tax compliance. Booking Holdings Financial Services, is building out a finance team with experience within a regulated financial services environment, helping to deliver a world-class payments operation to support Booking Holdings Inc’s brands globally. The company is seeking to hire an experienced Financial Control Manager into the team. Reporting to the CFO the successful candidate will lead a team of 1-2 analysts who will be responsible for the day to day finance processes, controls and reporting necessary to ensure the business meets its obligations with internal and external stakeholders. The Finance team will be responsible for ensuring BHFS is in compliance with all its regulatory and statutory responsibilities from a financial control and oversight perspective and will partner with both internal and external service providers to ensure a strong internal control environment. The Finance team will be accountable for the delivery of timely, complete and accurate financial statements and management reporting and supporting financial analysis, and will support the local executive team in pursuit of the company’s objectives.
Be responsible for the timely delivery and the integrity of the internal and/or external financial reporting
Initiate and own the strategic goals of the team / region in line with the accounting roadmap and OKRs of the department. Specific areas normally include the development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management's attention, the preparation of financial and management reports and procedures, and the presentation of findings and specific recommendations to Senior Management
Produce finance-related reports for Senior Management and for Head Office where applicable. Liaise with the regulatory authorities and maintain good relations with them. May be involved in the budgeting and financial strategy process
Identify, develop and make improvements to new ideas, techniques, procedures, services, products or cross-functional innovation and improvement projects in accounting
Support and provide oversight to the accounting team with the monthly (quarterly, annual) closing process, review a specific area or team and take ownership for their performance
Manage the balance sheet and profit and loss for the UK and complete the overall analysis
Be responsible for monthly closing reports, variance analysis and reconciliations in accordance with local and US GAAP and covering the Sox framework, and own the compliance aspect regarding this
Manage the annual returns and / or various statutory and statistical filings for multiple entities / region in accordance with all internal policies and external requirements and ensuring the Sox control framework is in place
Ensure adherence for a defined set of entities all compliance requirements including Sox, tax, statutory and statistical filings and statutory audits are met to fullest satisfaction.
Lead the outsourced accounting activities and collaborate with senior stakeholders in Finance and business.
Sign off on the quality and integrity of the balance sheet and profit and loss for and the variance analysis
Manage a small team of analysts. Ensure the development of individuals within the organization. Coach and direct people to allow them to achieve both organizational and individual objectives. Is responsible for recruiting new employees
Knowledge and skills
Accounting, Business, Economic degree and/or Specialized Certification, such as ACCA, CRA or CPA
Extensive Knowledge (8 – 12 years)
Experience in Finance and/or accounting preferably within a Big4 environment and/or multinational corporate environment
Sound knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS and SOx
Strong experience managing teams, coaching, and providing training on the job
