The Director of Regulatory Compliance will be a key member of our Corporate Compliance & Ethics team, responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a world-class compliance and ethics program for our incredible global business which touches the lives of millions of people every day.  The Director of Regulatory Compliance will report to the VP, Global Compliance & Ethics Operations and will partner closely with our brands to design, enhance, and operationalize effective compliance and ethics programs and initiatives across the business.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the design and implementation of programmatic compliance frameworks into the legal risk areas of Competition and Consumer Protection, including:

-In close collaboration with Legal, Compliance & Ethics, and other relevant stakeholders, develop, coordinate, and implement an integrated framework of standards, processes, and controls across the company to promote compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and corporate policies related to Competition and Consumer Protection.

-Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the Competition and Consumer Protection legal and regulatory environment, requirements, and developments relating to and impacting Booking Holdings’ global business and implement a process to update the relevant compliance standards and controls accordingly.

-Review and advise on effective training and awareness materials related to these compliance areas;

-Provide timely and accurate guidance related to Competition and Consumer Protection Compliance policies, risk assessment, training, etc.  

-Monitor the effectiveness of our Competition and Consumer Protection Compliance programs in preventing, detecting, and responding to potential violations of law, regulations, or internal policies and controls. This includes, where appropriate, directing and performing Compliance audits; and continuously improve and maintain the compliance program consistent with published guidance on effective compliance and industry practices. 

  • As a key member of the Compliance & Ethics team, play an integral role in supporting the effective implementation and continuous improvement of our overall compliance and ethics program covering a number of compliance and ethics subject matters (e.g., Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Antitrust/Competition, Conflict of Interest, Consumer Protection, FinCrime, Privacy, and Data Security). 

  • Participate in risk assessment, including reviewing and updating the process as necessary, planning and launching it, working closely with our brands to review results, planning and partaking in calibration sessions, and preparing presentations for senior management.  

  • With the VP, Compliance & Ethics Operations, manage and support the implementation of key compliance and ethics processes, initiatives, and projects, including, in addition to risk assessment, standards, policies, procedures, and controls, third party risk management, and human rights risk management, among others.

  • Leverage technology to enhance program effectiveness. Play a key role in defining key compliance metrics and developing and deploying processes, systems, and tools to monitor, measure, and report on compliance outcomes in real time. 

  • Develop compliance and ethics program presentations, dashboards, reports, and other materials for senior management, business leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead, manage, and partake in other strategic initiatives and special projects as needed.


  • J.D. Degree or equivalent required

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a corporate Compliance or Legal department or a law firm focusing on regulatory compliance

  • Experience designing and implementing both company-wide programs and function-specific compliance  and ethics programs

  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams with an emphasis on Legal and/or Compliance & Ethics functions

  • Proven experience driving operational excellence with large scale global programs

  • Experience working on a global team, capable of delegation, team building, and strategic leadership, driving alignment and consensus 

  • Significant experience with project management and systems implementation

  • Experience selecting and working with vendors using analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to plan and execute at strategic and tactical levels

  • Displays highest levels of integrity

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with excellent presentations skills and demonstrated ability to be clear and concise when communicating with global stakeholders  

  • Proven success communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels globally

  • Excellent presentation skills with polished and professional demeanor

  • Ability to manage complex projects and deliver wide range of content with multiple stakeholders

  • Fluent with metrics and how to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance and ethics programs in driving significant business impact

  • Team player and natural collaborator, but also comfortable moving projects forward independently

  • Confident and possesses ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Highly responsible, accountable, takes ownership, and can accomplish tough tasks

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Continuous appetite for learning, growth, development, and continuous improvement
