Booking Holdings Financial Services (hereinafter “BHFS”) is based in Dublin, Ireland and provides financial services in the form of payment services and e-money products across all the brands. The Data Protection Specialist will support the Data Protection Officer in overseeing BHFS’s data privacy programme and its implementation to ensure compliance with Global Data Protection requirements. They will assist in all issues relating to the protection of personal data including the maintenance of Personal Data Inventories, advising on Data Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Rights Requests and Privacy Notices.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deputise for the Data Protection Officer
Inform and advise the company and its employees of their obligations under data protection law
Provide advice where a DPIA has been carried out and monitor its performance
Act as a contact point for requests from individuals regarding the processing of their personal data and with exercising their rights
Cooperate with Data Protection Authorities and act as a contact point for the resolution of issues
Maintain comprehensive records of processing activities conducted by the company, including the purposes of processing activities, which can be published upon request
Collaborate with teams within BHFS and across the Booking Holdings brands to ensure data privacy compliance objectives are delivered
Monitor effectiveness of data privacy controls, including data inventory, data privacy by design, third party assurance, data transfers, data rights request responses and privacy enhanced technologies
Undergraduate or Post graduate preferably in a legal or information security topic*
Privacy or similar Security accreditations (CIPP, CIPM, CISSP, CISM)
Relevant Job Experience
Broad (3 – 5 years’ minimum) experience in privacy / data protection, including delivery of Data Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Rights Requests, Data Inventory maintenance and Incident Management
Strong understanding of global data protection law and a complete understanding of IT infrastructure, technology and organizational structures

Detailed oriented approach in recommending and implementing improvements on a range of data privacy and protection issues

Excellent understanding of privacy by design and data ethics principles and application
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact skillfully and confidently with internal partners and colleagues to develop ideas, find opportunities and influence outcomes
Excellent understanding of privacy risk and control frameworks
A sense of urgency in solving inquiries and requests to ensure timely resolution and an ability to work effectively under pressure
An effective team member, with developed communication and negotiation skills to focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with partners
Able to work efficiently, productively and independently with minimal supervision
