Job Summary

The Data Governance Manager is required to support the development, implementation and adherence of a regulatory compliant data governance model for a licensed e-Money institution. Strong and robust data practices are critical and the data governance manager will be responsible for the oversight and ensuring appropriate stewardship and necessary controls of data are in place by our service providers so that our staff, partners and customers can gain insight, make decisions, take action and deliver on strategic objectives.

The role reports to the BHFSI Operations Director

The role exists to support the end to end oversight of data across systems and processes with our inter company and external providers.

  • Data Governance Manager  will through collaboration identify and perform the following steps; Identification of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), Data Ownership, Data Architecture, Data Governance & Quality Reporting, Issues Management and Tracking, Data Reconciliations & Data Lineage and controls.

  • Tracking progress and reporting of KPIs/KRIs, MI & Reporting against Data Standards through Committees, Boards and relevant DG forums.

  • Design and implementation of a Data Governance Framework and 3LOD Model.

  • Promote data literacy and best practice within the BHFS and its affiliates

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of innovative data driven products and tools

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a data management governance framework and roadmap for data policies, standards and practices to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection of data to support the legal and regulatory needs of the business.

  • Ensuring appropriate level of cataloging of all data fields in key source data systems, providing the formal definition, description, source and use of each data field and critical data elements to be identified and categorized as part of reporting scope and the interaction between Risk and Financial data across and the reconciliation of these sources to support an expectation around single source of data.

  • Monitoring, assessing, measuring of data governance and quality controls and overall operational health, and ensuring appropriate remediations are tracked and ultimately implemented to address failures.

  • Conduct the periodic review of suppliers’ performance in respect to data requirements, track issue resolution, assess risks and controls and consider opportunities to continually improve processes

  • Develop operational scheduling of activities promoting a disciplined operational rhythm that supports operating activities that are planned and executed in line with agreed standards and timelines

  • Support the implementation, delivery and adoption of operational resilience covering business continuity, crisis management and incident management to facilitate appropriate responses for operational incidents and continuity events including on-call escalation service

  • Train data owners and stewards across the business and affiliates, serve as a triage point for data governance and compliance related concerns

Knowledge and Skills

The Data Governance Manager is expected to have had at least 5-7 years experience in a regulatory environment with a strong understanding of regulatory obligations ideally within the banking/payments sectors.

The ideal job candidate will have the following experience of:

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and govern an enterprise level data governance programme in an outsourced operating model where there is a high dependency on intercompany services provided by the group.

  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.

  • Experience in Risk and Controls environment and Issue resolutions

  • Supporting/Contributing to Incident Resolution (including remediation actions)

  • Collating data and reporting results in a structured and professional manner
