As part of the firm's ongoing development a new initiative, Booking Holdings Financial Services (BHFS) is established. It is intended that BHFS-USA will provide certain financial services to Bookers and Partner customers using the online platforms within the BKNG portfolio of brands.
BHFS-USA is looking for an experienced Chief Compliance Officer with hands-on experience in advising and supporting the firm's global aspirations and business practices. This new role will be a critical business partner helping to deliver a world-class payments and financial service operation to support BKNG’s, global travel brands.
This role will engage and communicate effectively with colleagues, executive management and staff at BKNG, BHFS and affiliate brands.

As a member of the BHFS-USA leadership team and BHI Global Compliance team you will support, advise and work within a collaborative way to help enable secure and responsible business growth in the USA.
Collectively, the BHFS-USA management team is responsible for the preparation, execution, monitoring and evaluation of decisions of the board. The Global Compliance Leadership Team is responsible for ensuring that BHI and the brands (including BHFS) compliance programs are designed, implemented and operating effectively in line with the Compliance and Ethics Charter.
You will support a dynamic organization of executives and professionals who are responsible for bringing products to life across BKNG’s portfolio of brands, and making an impact on millions of travellers per day.
The role demands an individual with deep experience in specific relevant areas of financial compliance and regulation in payments and money transmission. Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting to the CEO of BHFS-USA with a matrix reporting line to the BHI Global Compliance and Ethics Officer, you will be responsible for advising on BHFS-USA policy matters related to compliance under the umbrella of the BHI family of Brands. You will, as required, work directly with Senior Management and key stakeholders across the business.
You will have a good understanding of legal principles applicable to payments and risk, including the payments ecosystem (e.g., the role of acquiring and issuing banks, card networks, payment processors, gateways, risk vendors, etc.), regulatory implications (e.g., stored value, money transmission, other payments, cross-border and regulatory matters) and consumer protection laws.
You will provide assurance to senior management and the Board that there are effective and efficient policies and procedures in place, well understood and respected by all employees, and that the company is complying with all regulatory requirements.
You will share strategic leadership responsibilities with the Management team and ensure the compliance function supports the business at a strategic and operational level.
You will engage and communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, suppliers, regulators, and other internal and external stakeholders.
You will lead and deliver projects as required to support the set up and implementation of the BHFS strategy in the United States of America.
You will develop strong relationships with relevant regulatory bodies.
Identifying and acting upon regulatory changes in the US and the corresponding compliance risks, priorities and issues.
Meeting all regulatory reporting obligations in the USA;
Significant experience in senior management and proven experience in Compliance at regulated Financial Institutions or equivalent.
Significant years of experience in performing compliance for a money transmitter or bank consistent with the proposed activities of the applicant.
Demonstrated that he or she has undertaken acceptable and current training on topics directly related to the activities and business of the money transmitter and his/her function as a compliance officer.
Demonstrated experience in scaling a business in a dynamic environment, e.g. in a fintech environment.
Deep knowledge of payment products such as e-money wallets and other payments services.
Affinity with the travel industry.
Significant experience working in cross functional teams and in complex programs and projects.
Deep knowledge of AML/KYC, Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions Screening practice.
Academic degree or equivalent level demonstrated in relevant work experience.
Knowledge of payments sector / regulated financial services sector.
Knowledge of business development and implementing corporate strategy.
